As we got closer to our camp, I began to hear strange grunting noises, and there was a very faint light coming from the ground. Luke reached out and grabbed my shoulder again. “Go slow,” he whispered.

I thought this might be a bear and Luke just confirmed that thought. I had left our food on the ground and hadn’t tied it up. I was sure the rest of our dinner was gone by now.

We were close enough now that I could see the tent and the light shining against it. The Lantern must have fallen from the tree, and the fluid leaked out. It barely cast any light at all. It was so dim that it looked like it was about to go out completely.
